School wear

Beginning on the first day of the school year, all students will be required to wear only approved Kauai High Schoolwear. Approved sport, club, or organization shirts, with “Kauai High School” on the front are allowed. Prior to printing, all sport /club/organization shirt designs must be approved by Administration.

Alterations such as tying and cinching of shirts at the waist or any other level as well as any display of midriff are prohibited. Shirts may not be altered in any way; shirts must be worn as originally approved.

Schoolwear is available at Island Image Hawaii, 3129 Peleke St. in the Lihue Industrial Park II, phone 246-8600.

Sweaters and jackets are permitted to be worn by students; however, if the garment is covering the school wear shirt, students will be expected to show school staff that they are in compliance with the School Wear Policy.

Students are to wear shorts, skirts, etc. that arelonger than the length of their arms extended down to their sides with their hands clenched in a fist and/or shorts with a 7 inch inseam that provide modesty, conceals underwear and shows no midriff. These garments should not contain obscene references such as drugs, nudity, improper slangs or insignia, or anything that condones a criminal act. If a student chooses to wear two shirts, the Kauai High School wear t-shirt must be on the outside, with the other shirt under the Kauai High School wear t-shirt.

The Administration may declare spirit or club days and allow students to wear school spirit shirts, participate in dress up days or allow students to wear other uniforms such as cheerleading, band, chorus, etc.

Any inquiry or question regarding the School Wear Policy can be submitted to the Vice Principals.

Students caught violating these rules will be subject to administrative consequences. Students will receive a replacement shirt, an obligation for the cost and a detention.

All Kauai High School staff will work together to enforce the rules of the School Wear Policy and cite violators. This shall be done without bias or discrimination.
